"A Story from Home, For the World."

If you've ever carried the sound of your grandmother's voice in your memory, or felt the dust of a familiar road beneath your feet, then you already understand why NASABA matters.

This series is more than a story. It is a bridge—between the past we honor and the future we are shaping, between the streets of Kano, Sokoto, or Gombe, and the hearts of Hausa speakers everywhere, whether in Lagos, London, or beyond.

NASABA — meaning "lineage" — was born from a simple but urgent need: to tell our own stories, with our own voices, in our own texture. We want to celebrate our lineage, and tell our story, not as others see it, but as we live it.

"Our Legacy, Engineered for the Future."

This series is more than entertainment; it is a strategic investment in our cultural future. It builds a bridge between the rich legacy we inherit and the dynamic, tech-driven future we are actively designing.

It connects the entrepreneurial spirit of Kano with innovators in Lagos, the artistic soul of Sokoto with creators in Accra, and the wisdom of our communities with the global digital stage.

My journey—from two decades in banking and finance to this pivotal role in film—has taught me that the most sustainable ventures are built on authentic value. Our stories are that invaluable asset. We apply a professional lens to the creative process, ensuring that our art is not only impactful but also a viable, thriving industry.

Voices Behind the Lens

Muryoyin Bada Umarni

"NASABA is more than a story—it’s a visual homecoming."
"NASABA ta wuce labari kawai—dawo da al'ada ce ta hoto."

Growing up in Arewa, I was surrounded by faces, landscapes, and moments that held entire histories in a glance—the way an old man's hands tell stories of the soil, the way a woman's eyes hold both fire and forgiveness, the way sunset in the Sahel feels like a prayer. Yet, so often, our screens showed us everywhere but here.

My vision is to frame Arewa not as a setting, but as a living character. To use light, texture, and silence in ways that feel true to our rhythms—not hurried, not exoticized, but deeply familiar. I want the camera to move like a breath. To pause where we pause. To honor the spaces where our lives unfold: the bustling kasuwa, the quiet mosque courtyard, the family compound under the moon.

Burina shi ne in tsara Arewa ba kawai a matsayin wuri ba, a'a, a matsayin jarumi mai rai. Yin amfani da haske, launi, da kuma shuru a hanyoyin da ke nuna gaskiyar rayuwarmu—ba tare da gaggawa ba, amma cikin sani.

"Marrying the poetic with the real—to capture not only what Arewa looks like, but what it feels like."
"Hada fasaha ta waka da gaskiya—don rike yadda Arewa take da kuma yadda ake jinta."

To me, this series is a living tapestry—one woven from the threads of our heritage, the colors of our present, and the light of our future.

Having grown up listening to my grandmother's stories under the neem tree in Sokoto, I learned early that storytelling isn't just entertainment—it's how we preserve who we are. NASABA, which means "lineage," is my way of returning to that truth, but with a lens pointed firmly forward.

I want the frames to breathe with the quiet dignity of our people, the unspoken resilience in their eyes, the profound faith in their daily rhythm. This is not a nostalgic portrait; it is a dynamic, breathing snapshot of a people in motion.

A gare ni, wannan shiri wani zanen rayuwa ne mai rai—wanda aka saka shi daga zaren al'adunmu, launukan halin yanzu, da hasken makomarmu.

Girma cikin sauraron labaran kakata a karkashin bishiyar darbejiya a Sakkwato ya koya mini da wuri cewa bayar da labari ba nishadi ba ne kadai—hanya ce ta kiyaye ko su wanene mu. NASABA, wanda ke nufin "zuri'a," ita ce hanyara ta komawa ga wannan gaskiyar.

"Stories are the soul of a people—and for too long, our soul has been narrated by outsiders."
"Labarai su ne ran al'umma—kuma na tsawon lokaci, mutanen waje ne ke ba da labarin ranmu."

I grew up in Kano, between the echoes of the muezzin and the vibrant chaos of Kurmi Market. I heard stories in my mother's prayers, in my father's silence after dusk, in the tales traders told of journeys across the Sahara. Those voices became my first library. With NASABA, I've tried to give those voices a stage—not as folklore, but as living, breathing truth.

My vision as a writer was to build a bridge of words—one that connects the Hausa we speak at home with the universal emotions we all feel. I wanted dialogue that doesn't just explain, but reveals. Characters who aren't just "from the North," but who carry its contradictions, its faith, its quiet rebellion, and its unbreakable dignity.
